Draft Regulations
On July 9, 2021, the Department invited Tribal leaders and Native Hawaiian Community leaders to consult on a draft proposal of revised NAGPRA regulations. Consultations are scheduled for August 9, 13, and 16 with Indian Tribes and August 17 with Native Hawaiian Community leaders. See Consultations and Listening Sessions Schedule. The Department also provided a summary of previous tribal consultation in 2011 and an explanation of how the draft proposal addresses that input.
